How-To: Configuring FlashArray With Veritas CloudPoint

Currently viewing public documentation. Please login to access the full scope of documentation.

Introduction

Veritas CloudPoint™ is a backup and recovery enterprise software capable of leveraging Pure Storage FlashArray snapshot functionality for backup purposes. The FlashArray's capabilities are exposed to CloudPoint through plug-ins. A CloudPoint plugin is a Python module responsible for asset discovery and actions performed on discovered and configured assets. CloudPoint includes the plug-in for Pure Storage FlashArray. Using CloudPoint, FlashArrays may be easily deployed to create crash-consistent snapshots.

Configuring FlashArray

To add FlashArray as a CloudPoint managed asset follow the steps below.

1. Log in to CloudPoint.

2. Select Manage cloud and arrays (See Figure 1) or from Dashboard in Administration card select Clouds/Arrays and click Manage  (see Figure 2).

Verifying Configuration

Once the FlashArray is successfully added, the Clouds and Arrays screen will indicate the number of configured FlashArrays - see Figure 5. In  Notifications area (bell symbol), add plugin entry 'purestg' for agent information will be available.

Furthermore, all existing array volumes will be visible and may be managed from the dashboard. The dashboard is accessible from any CloudPoint screen by selecting 'cloud' button in the upper left corner. See Figure 6.

Clicking Manage in Disks tile opens Asset Management screen showing FlashArray volumes and the corresponding snapshots.

Optionally, examine the flexsnap-agent-offhost.log file located in installation_path/cloudpoint/logs directory on CloudPoint host. A sample output is shown in Figure 7 - note the successful (INFO) message indicating agent's resource discovery.
