Release Notes

Installation

  • To install the Management Pack, extract and run **SCOMManagementPackInstaller.msi**, and follow the instructions. If this is a new installation close the installer. If this is an upgrade, run the Flash Array Management Tool by checking the box in the installer before closing. If the box is closed, the Flash Array Management tool can be found in the Start Menu, or by navigating to it directly at "C:\Program Files\Pure Storage\Flash Array Management Tool\MpMigrationTool.exe".
  • The purpose of the Flash Array Management Tool, is to migrate Flash Array endpoints, and their corresponding Override Management Packs to the 2.0 schema, preserving override settings and history. First connect to a Management Group, then select Upgrade Management Pack and follow the instructions.

New Features

  • Supports SCOM Resource Pools on installation
  • Endpoint and Resource Pool editing in the GUI
  • Updated Dashboards with more details and larger alerts section
  • Alert & Monitor enhancements including more description in what has failed
  • Array Space Monitor updates with 2 thresholds that provide Healthy, Warning, & Critical states
  • No need to install on every SCOM server. Installation can be done in any SCOM server except for the gateway server (installer will detect and deny installation on that server)
  • Alerts default thresholds updated so the alerting isn’t so noisy
  • ActiveCluster POD and mediator monitoring

Known Issues

  • Known Issues remain from version 1.2.20.0.
  • Some anti-malware or antivirus software may produce a false-positive restriction during the Management Pack installation, upgrade, and/or un-installation. The folder C:\Program Files\Pure Storage should be added for exclusion. Be sure to follow this advice from Microsoft on suggested exclusions.
  • Due to a current FlashArray limitation, File Services virtual interfaces (filevif) are either not discovered or are shown as disconnected or down. This is expected to be resolved in a upcoming release.

  • This version has not been tested in Azure Stack environments.

  • This version will report a DirectFlash Shelf (DFS) controller as unhealthy and may show it in a Critical state. This will be resolved in a future release.

User Guide

Please note: The following are corrections to the User Guide:

  • Under the section titled "Arrays by Latency"

Rule Override and Port Monitoring Example

This applies to version 1.1.99.0 and later of the Management Pack.

Overriding rules can be as simple as, preventing alerts on a known port that an administrator disabled, to customizing a rule timeout such as bandwidth thresholds. For more information on how to create overrides in SCOM, please refer to these articles from Microsoft - Article 1   Article 2

In this example, CT0.ETH7 is disabled at the Ethernet Switch and enabling IgnoreDisabledPorts will prevent an alert on this port. If this override was applied globally, all ports that are disabled would not alert.
