Robust Study Guide

What is the difference between cert-prep training and certification study guides?

While on-the-job experience with Pure products and solutions is always helpful, certification preparation courses help prepare you for the exam. The cert-prep training courses do not “teach” to the exam, rather they cover topics that are assessed on the corresponding certification exam. Depending on the specific exam, cert-prep training is offered in one of three modalities: in-person instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led (VILT) training, and on-demand training accessed via Pure Academy (E-Learning).

Study guides are a robust resource that will help test takers to prepare for an exam. Along with featuring all exam topics and associated subtopics, study guides include recommended study resources and sample questions. Candidates should use the study guide to gauge their competency and tailor their study approach for their particular exam.

Note: Completing a cert-prep training course or reviewing all resources in a study guide does NOT guarantee that you will successfully pass a certification exam. A combination of training and on-the-job experience is critical for providing candidates with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the exam.

What content is included in a study guide?

Each study guide includes a high-level description of the exam, recommended experience levels, exam logistical details, exam topics and sub-topics, documentation links mapped to exam topic levels, and sample exam questions.

Why do some certification exams have cert prep training while others have study guides?

Exams that are more advanced with a broader content domain are more likely to have a robust study guide instead of a traditional training course. These exams encapsulate too much content and truly require real-job experience in order to successfully pass the exam. A cert-prep training course alone would not be able to adequately cover this amount of material and is more appropriate for core table stakes exams.

Study guides empower candidates to determine areas where they need further training and/or experience across a broad range of content. Certification-prep training courses provide candidates training for more focused content.

Will all exams eventually have cert-prep training?

Not all exams will have a traditional ILT or VILT cert-prep training course. Some exams might have robust study guides, on-demand modules, while some might offer live webinars with experts.

We strive to provide appropriate opportunities for our candidates to learn- and to ultimately achieve success on their certification journeys.

Will all exams eventually have study guides?

All future new exams will have a robust study guide when they launch. Although we do not have a defined timeline, all existing exams will be updated to include a study guide in 2024.
